Masterclass

Cybersecurity for critical infrastructures (energy sector, harsh environments and utilities)

In this Masterclass we cover the most critical topics for critical infrastructures, which are usually not covered by the standard cybersecurity measures and require special attention due to rapid digitalization and active threats.

Why should cybersecurity be important to you?

  • We are experiencing increased security risks since the invasion of Ukraine with a significant increase in cyberattacks.

  • 84% expect physical damage, 57% anticipate loss of life. More than half of energy professionals believe cyberattacks on the industry soon will result in a loss of life and many companies are not doing enough to protect themselves. Source: DNV

  • Digitalization in the energy sector offers consumer benefits but increases vulnerability to cyberattacks, which poses risks to energy supply and consumer data privacy.

  • Specific challenges in the energy sector, such as real-time operational demands, interconnected infrastructure, and the integration of legacy systems with new technologies, necessitate tailored attention for cybersecurity.

  • The European Commission has established a comprehensive cybersecurity legislative framework, including the EU Cybersecurity Strategy, the NIS Directive, and the Cybersecurity Package, to address these evolving challenges.

  • The European Commission promotes cooperation and trust among EU countries and stakeholders through initiatives like the Network Code on Cybersecurity and the NIS Cooperation Group to manage cross-border cyber risks and to develop standardized security controls and requirements.

  • As utilities move forward with modernizing and upgrading their operational technology (OT) networks, the progression toward converging them with information technology (IT) networks increases. While the benefits of integrating a utility’s IT and OT networks under a single operational umbrella are demonstrated, rising security threats and evolving security and privacy requirements come into play.

For whom?

CEOs, CTOs, OT engineers and IT admins in the energy sector, their suppliers and business partners. Are you worried about recent cyberattacks, digitalization and the security of virtual power plants? Then this Cybersecurity training is for you. As you are a decission maker when it comes to business and technology decisions, this course will allow you to immediatly act within your company, and as such have direct impact on its security level.
