Training in foundry technology gives you in-depth, practical knowledge

Acting at the request of the foundries and their customers, Sirris will start a new foundry technology course after the holiday period. The series of lessons consists of a combination of traditional location-based and online sessions. During this training, all facets of the casting process - work preparation, moulds, melting, casting and quality control - are covered for both ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. The training course consists of five modules that can be followed separately.

This course provides you with in-depth and practical knowledge of all the technical aspects that are important in the production of castings.

What makes this course unique?

As well as offering teachers with years of practical experience we provide firmly-based course content and course materials (via presentations), incorporating expertise and knowledge built up over decades.

The structure of the course

The foundry technology course consists of five modules that can be taken separately:

Module 1: Casting of ferrous metals (1 traditional session + 9 online sessions)

Module 2: Casting of non-ferrous metals (1 traditional session + 3 online sessions)

Module 3: Clay-bonded moulding sand, chemically-bonded moulding sands and coatings (1 traditional session + 3 online sessions)

Module 4: Melting processes, work preparation, design of castings and casting defects (1 traditional session + 7 online sessions)

Module 5: Mechanical testing and non-destructive testing (2 traditional sessions)

During the traditional location-based sessions, a break is always provided in which students can exchange knowledge and experience with each other.

The detailed program with all sessions and the dates on which they take place can be found in the following overview (in Dutch):
