Multiscale micro-3D-printing – Covering the entire dimensional range of micromanufacturing with a single tool
3D printing techniques have evolved significantly in recent years, both in terms of the manufacturing methods used and the materials that can be processed. Until recently, there was a cruel lack of an integrated system capable of covering the entire dimensional range typical for micromanufacturing, from a few centimetres to a few microns.
Faced with this situation, and thanks to the support of the ERDF, Sirris commissioned the development of a micro-3D-printing platform, combining both a micro-stereolithography module and a multi-photon polymerisation head on the same workbench.
This platform enables the rapid production of functional prototypes in commercial polymer resins for all fields of activity, covering a dimensional range from a few centimetres down to a few micrometres in resolution. It can also be integrated into hybrid approaches, in combination with micro-machining or replication processes for instance.
