Metrology & reverse engineering – A winning combo to make old parts great again

You already have existing parts, but no longer the tooling to make them or it costs too much to produce what such few parts … So, what to do then? Have you heard of 3D scanning and reverse engineering? Let's discuss the possibilities of recreating what you need!

Remanufacturing, reusing, refurbishing, recycling are all part of the circular economy, but finding sustainable solutions to use parts or products longer is not always easy. Maybe you have some old or rare parts that are no longer manufactured, but you need to replace them or replicate them to keep using your assembly (machine, vehicle, assembled product ...). You do not have the original design or the tooling to make them, or it would be too expensive to order custom-made ones, especially for small productions.

What can you do then? We can offer you the way to find a solution through 3D scanning and reverse engineering! These techniques can help you to create digital models and physical copies of any existing part, regardless of its shape, size, or material.

In this online session we will show you the possibilities, how these methods work and what benefits they can bring to your engineering challenges.

Why participate?

  • As a research centre Sirris has built up its own knowledge and experience on the matter, which allows us to present it in a transparent and agnostic way.
  • The possibilities of specific software and equipment will be shown, so you can have a full grasp of the processes.
  • You will see and learn how to find a solution for your own case.

Programme

Presentation on metrology and reverse engineering – Sirris (5 min)
 Technical presentation (15 min)
 Q & A (10 min)

For whom?

Do you work as an engineer, product developer, designer, in R&D for a manufacturing company, foundry, maintenance company product or machine builder, ...? Then you should definitely attend this webinar!
