Friction & Tribology – save costs and extend the lives of your products
As a machine builder and manufacturer, you've always known that friction and wear play a major role in the design of new machines, vehicles and consumer goods. Friction and wear play an important role in 21st-century industry, where smart energy use and smart use of materials are both essential. By reducing or preventing friction and wear, components can last longer and consume less energy, thereby reducing their impact on the environment.
New insights
Tribology is a complex field, often with a wide range of solutions. It is precisely because of this complexity that many companies choose proven, time-honoured technologies. In this seminar, we also try to throw some light on innovative solutions such as laser textures, innovative coatings and modern measurement techniques.
What are we focusing on in this seminar?
- The use of coatings and textures to affect friction and wear behaviour.
- How to correctly measure and map out friction and wear.
- We also delve deeper into the little-studied phenomenon of non-steady-state friction, and how to map it out via simulations, for example.
- Finally, we give a general overview of the themes that are currently getting attention within tribology and what we can expect in the future.

Price
Thanks to the support of Vlaio within the framework of the #industriepartnerschap (industry partnership) project, companies located in Flanders pay only €375. The enrolment fee for this masterclass is € 1,245 for companies outside of Flanders.
Cancellations should be notified by email (events.admin@sirris.be). Cancellations notified 3 working days before the masterclass are free of charge. In case of no-show or cancellation on the day itself, the full registration fee will be charged. Replacement by a colleague is always possible provided that this is notified in advance by email (events.admin@sirris.be.be).
This masterclass is part of the Industriepartnerschap in which 17 Flemish innovation partners offer an integrated service to stimulate growth and innovation in the Flemish industry in the 3 following themes: Digitalisation, Sustainability & Industrie 4.0. They do this under the leadership of Agoria and Sirris and with the support of the Agentschap Innoveren & Ondernemen.
