Circularity & surface functionalisation
This masterclass has been canceled. For more information, contact our experts.
Today, there is a strong demand for higher value components with additional surface functionalities. The way these surface functionalities are applied is often based on energy- and resource-heavy processes, such as hard-chrome, PVD or CVD coatings. Therefore, it is incompatible with the objectives set forth by the European Commission regarding critical raw materials and the Green Deal.
This workshop will inspire you about non-traditional ways to achieve similar or better surface functionalities, while avoiding the classical production technologies and saving a lot of energy and resources.
What to expect?
Concrete cases will be presented, such as anti-microbial coatings and textures, that can enhance packaging materials and/or medical equipment, low-friction textures, that can replace hard-chrome coatings and/or grinding processes, and optical and thermal black surfaces for lightweight and efficient radiators and/or mirrors.
The workshop will conclude with an overview of the current and future state of the art in ultrashort pulse laser machines by Lasea, a tour through the FacThory and a live demonstration of the process at the THOR Multi-head Laser Machine.
