Pieter Beyl

Pieter supports companies by setting up and leading research and development projects in the domain of technical products and systems, where he mainly draws on his background and expertise in mechatronics. Tackling innovation challenges for companies is what drives him most, especially when there is a need for a plan and for involving the right expertise. He combines a broad interest in engineering with a strong focus on problem/solution fit and systems thinking.

Over the past ten years, he has been working on different topics within the Mechatronics team of Sirris, ranging from smart product development (Wat Slim, AddSmart) to intelligent machines ((Mechatronics 4.0) and energy efficiency of mechatronical products (EcoMechatronics).

Before joining Sirris, Pieter obtained a PhD in robotics for rehabilitation applications (2010) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and his master’s degree in electromechanical engineering (2005) at the same university.
