What about the future residual flow from offshore wind turbine blades? After a feasibility study and thorough consultation with various companies, Sirris is ready to take further steps towards concrete answers in a business-driven approach. You too can be part of the solution!

12,000 tonnes, or 12 million kilograms, which is the weight of composite waste from offshore wind turbine blades in our country in 2040. The turbine blades are made of glass fibre reinforced composites and represent 10-15 wt% of the entire wind turbine. Where there are different common end-of-life solutions for the other turbine components, there are few favourable commercial opportunities for the wind turbine blades. What are we going to do with this residual flow?

After our feasibility study with Agoria and Go4Circle and thorough consultation with various companies, we are ready to take further steps towards concrete answers in a business-driven approach. We involve product manufacturers who want to use the residual flows in new products early in the process.

We invite you to be part of this approach too! Our coaching course on this theme is already full, but be sure to contact us if this topic enthuses you. In this way we can look together at how we can broaden the support base and work together in a future-oriented, yet very specific way. In addition, we want to set up similar actions that not only tie in with your circular corporate vision, but that already have the relevant ambitious companies around the table at the start of the process.

These initiatives are part of the Industry Partnership within which 17 Flemish innovation partners offer an integrated service to stimulate growth and innovation in Flemish industry in the 3 following themes: Digitisation, Sustainability & Industry 4.0. They do it that under the leadership of Agoria and Sirris and with the support of the Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship Agency.
