Coating makes footwear 'beer-proof’

Adidas has also learned that coatings offer a solution to everyday problems. The shoe manufacturer has just launched a new sneaker especially for the Oktoberfest in Munich. What’s special about this shoe is not what you see, but what you don’t see.

The latest sneakers - a modified version of its classic lifestyle model Adidas München - are designed so that the feet of even the most ardent reveller can survive the famous beer festival. They are actually resistant to beer and vomit. The sneakers have been given a ‘DPBR’ coating, which stands for 'Durable Puke and Beer Repellent'. The coating ensures that any fluids ending up on the surface of the shoes simply slide off again without leaving any marks or stains.
